Heather Peske

In 2022, Dr. Heather Peske became President of the National Council on Teacher Quality. She is driven by the goal that all children in our nation have access to an effective and diverse teacher workforce. Prior to joining NCTQ she was Senior Associate Commissioner for Instructional Support in the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, where she implemented policies and programs across teacher development, educator preparation, and curriculum and instruction that drove historic improvements for students. Dr. Peske also served as Vice President for Programs at Teach Plus and Director of Teacher Quality at the Education Trust. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Kenyon College, then entered teaching as a 4th grade teacher.  Dr. Peske holds master’s and doctoral degrees from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. 

Dr. Peske is the proud parent of two children in Massachusetts public schools and spends her spare time walking the beaches of the state’s North Shore.
