Jennifer L. Steele is an Associate Professor of Education at American University, where she studies education policy and the economics of education. Her recent work, funded by the Institute of Education Sciences, has examined the causal effects of dual-language immersion education on student achievement in Oregon and Utah. Some of her other sponsored research has examined students’ access to highly effective teachers, alternative preparation models for school leaders, and implementation of the Post-9/11 GI Bill. Her latest project examines inequities in high school students’ access to information as they plan for college and careers. She holds a doctorate in Administration, Planning, and Social Policy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She can be reached at steele@american.edu.
